David has been practising Vedic Meditation since 1997. Having had such positive results in his own life, David was inspired to become a teacher. After completing more than a thousand hours of teacher training under the direct tutelage of one of the world's foremost experts in Vedic Meditation and the study of consciousness, Dr Thom Knoles, in 2007, David graduated as a teacher of this simple to learn, easy to practise technique.
The first step to learning meditation is to attend a free introductory talk. Once people hear about the benefits - which include better quality of sleep, freedom from anxiety and panic attacks, improved health, greater access to their available brain power, happier relationships and, in just 40 minutes, the equivalent of 6 hours extra sleep -, most people decide to take the course. The complete course then takes 4 sessions of 1-2 hours.
David's teaching style is totally supportive, ensuring that every student gains the deep levels of rest and inner quiet that the Vedic Meditation technique is guaranteed to provide. A natural communicator, he takes students through the steps gradually, at their own pace, with great clarity.
David has also worked for over twenty years in film and television, as a writer and producer of feature films, starring the likes of Cate Blanchett, Glenn Close, Naomi Watts and Jack Thompson. Whenever his teaching schedule permits, he continues to write scripts and coach actors, giving lectures on writing and acting at schools and universities around the world.

What is Your Favourite Book?
So many to choose from...The Alchemist started me on a much more interesting path. The Great Gatsby is brilliantly written. Great Expectations is a wonderful story. The Lord of the Rings is moving and inspiring and a staggering achievement of imagination.
What Do You Love About Your Job?
Seeing people shed their stresses and light up, becoming the people they always truly knew themselves to be. After a couple of years of practising the technique, meditators also have the unusual experience of strangers smiling at them in the street a lot - because, without even knowing it, the meditators themselves are smiling. That is a lovely thing to witness.
Your Favourite Holiday?
Anywhere beautiful with people I love. Noosa, Paris, Oxford, Tuscany, Corfu, the Grand Canyon - but a little creek in Far North Queensland might just be my favourite spot in the world.
For Fun And Relaxation?
I have been hooked on the movies since I was a child. I also love watching wildlife - binoculars are a wonderful invention.
What Is One Thing You Cannot Live Without?
Peace.
Your Planet Saving Tip?
Being conscious of what we do. Chasing happiness in material possessions is not only bound to lead to disappointment, because happiness is not in things but in ourselves, but this desire for 'stuff' is also causing us to destroy the planet on which we depend for our lives. So, we need to increase our conscious awareness and we will all make better, wiser choices for ourselves and this beautiful world which is, after all, our only home.
