Nil Pozcu
Hypnotherapist

Nil Pozcu is an experienced hypnotherapist having trained at one of the most well regarded institutes in the UK, after her training she worked at the same institute as a supervisor to the students while carrying out her own practice in London. During this time she worked at the renowned Gateway clinic, part of Lambeth Hospital in South London, where the main treatment approach acupuncture was supplemented with hypnotherapy to great effect. She practices brief solution-focussed Hypnotherapy with a Human Givens approach, an approach that takes into account a person’s basic physical and emotional needs, this means Nil looks at the whole picture including a person’s sleep, diet & fitness.

Nil uses hypnosis to gently guide her clients into relaxation & trance. Trance is a completely natural state that all humans experience on a daily basis, like day dreaming, switching into auto-pilot when driving home or ‘zoning out’ when watching TV (Contrary to public belief trance is voluntary, the client remains in control & the trance can be broken at any time if the client chooses). Trance is the state in which you can access the subconscious mind, the part of the mind which is responsible for all instinctive behaviour including body functions & systems, such as breathing, digesting, & temperature regulation. It is the state where instincts & patterns are programmed, by accessing this natural state through hypnosis we can effectively lay down new templates and new patterns, replacing old un-resourceful ones we may have picked up along the way such as panic attacks, phobias, blushing & anxiety.

Recently Nil has added Life Coaching to her qualifications and is using this to add even more value to her client’s sessions. With her life coaching she is able to add a wider range of life skills and techniques, looking at a client’s values & beliefs in addition to their overall health & wellbeing.

Nil has successfully treated many conditions including phobias, weight loss, smoking cessation, panic attacks, depression, pain control, post traumatic stress disorder, addiction, blushing, lack of energy, procrastination, confidence, involuntary gag reflux, nail biting, insomnia, motivation & goal setting to name but a few and the list is always growing.

What is Your Favourite Book?

Most recent book I read that I really enjoyed was “eat pray love” by Elizabeth Gilbert. I also enjoy any inspiring biographies.

What Do You Love About Your Job?

I love seeing people realize their potential and remove obstacles to create balance & well being in their lives.

Your Favourite Holiday?

I love traveling and my favourite trip would have to be the 5 months I back packed in South America a few years ago, I visited Peru, Bolivia, Argentina & Brazil, it was an amazing experience! I’m always drawn back to Europe though to visit my friends and family in Turkey, Holland & the UK. A perfect holiday for me combines relaxing on a beach, catching up with friends & family, good food, a bit of adventure & exploration, beautiful scenery, interesting culture & just having some fun, so not much to ask then!

For Fun And Relaxation?

as mentioned above travel is a passion of mine, from weekends away to longer trips. I also love going for early morning swims at the beach with my husband, catching up with friends, the bondi to coogee coastal walk, yoga classes and any outdoor activity in the summer from snorkeling to barefoot bowling with friends.

What Is One Thing You Cannot Live Without?

I’m ashamed to admit it but it’s my mobile phone, I love to be able to spontaneously call someone for a chat or arrange a last minute catch up, it also makes it a lot easier to keep in touch with family overseas especially as my mum doesn’t even know how to turn on a computer. These days as the phone doubles up as a camera, internet connection and MP3 player it’s even harder to live without!

Your Planet Saving Tip?

an obvious one is conserve water I also liked Paul’s tip ‘learn to live with less’.
